A loofah (also spelled luffa) is a natural sponge made from the fibrous skeleton of the mature fruit of the Luffa plant, a type of gourd related to cucumbers. Once dried and peeled, the inner structure becomes a porous, slightly rough material perfect for exfoliating skin.
